Are Holidays Biblical?
Why Do We Celebrate Certain Days of the Year?
Is it because our parents or pastor taught us to?
Because other believers do?
Is it for our children’s sake?
My family and I recently entered a season where Yahweh asked us to look into why we celebrated certain things in our lives (Christmas, Easter, birthdays, etc…). We love Him very much, so we obeyed. He led us through a Biblical and historical fact-finding journey that allowed us to see the truth about many of these so-called Christian holidays.
We discovered that early followers of Yeshua and Yeshua Himself did not keep any of these days that we had been keeping for years. The reason was because each one contains sin. It took humility, repentance, and obedience on our part to make the changes necessary to come away from these celebrations. But being on the other side now, we are forever grateful Yahweh led us into His truth.
“I thought upon my ways and I turned my feet to Your testimonies. I hastened and did not delay to keep Your commandments.” - Psalm 119:59-60
Why My Family and I Do Not Celebrate Halloween
I used to think this evening was just a fun night for the kids to dress up and get a basket full of candy… Boy did I have a lot to learn. I hope you’ll join me for the details.
Why My Family and I No Longer Celebrate Christmas (Part 1)
Growing up, I used to love Christmas - it was my favorite time of year. However, Yahweh challenged my love for Christmas and changed my mind forever. I hope you can join me as we dive into part 1 - explaining the origin of Christmas and what we’re really doing when we celebrate this holiday.
Why My Family and I No Longer Celebrate Christmas (Part 2)
We will continue in part 2 with why subjective truth isn’t an option when trying to justify the origins of Christmas.
Why My Family and I No Longer Celebrate Christmas (Part 3)
In part 3, we will connect the dots to birthdays - to the Messiah’s birthday specifically, but to our own birthdays as well.
Why My Family and I No Longer Celebrate Valentine’s Day
We discovered this holiday is not all about hearts, roses, and chocolates but that it has a much darker meaning. We continued to see that celebrating things blindly was careless and translated to lack of love for our wonderful heavenly Father.
Why My Family and I Celebrate the Passover vs. Easter
Did you know that Paul celebrated the Passover even after the Messiah rose from the dead? He never celebrated Easter. Neither did the early followers of the Messiah. When we discovered the heavy idolatry wrapped up in celebrating Easter, we repented heavily and changed. I hope you will as well.
Why My Family and I No Longer Celebrate Birthdays
We discovered that Yeshua, his followers, the prophets, and even early believers in the 1st and 2nd century did not celebrate their birthdays. The early believers said this is what the pagans did - that it was idolatrous. We were quickly realizing that even if culturally accepted today, this does not mean Yahweh accepts it. We must read our Bibles carefully.
Why My Family and I Keep the Sabbath vs. Going to Church on Sunday
Did you know that keeping the Sabbath on the seventh day of the week is a covenant with Yahweh and the believer - forever? (Exodus 31) We didn’t know this until we read our Bibles carefully, and from the beginning of the book.
